A Long Legacy: Weather Observations in Central Park

Designed in 1858 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, New York City's Central Park incorporates nearly 850 acres of green space in the center of one of the highest-density urban areas of the world. With more than 40 million visitors annually, Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States and draws more people each year than the five most-visited national parks—the Great Smoky Mountains, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Olympic—combined.
