Climatologist and Project Scientist for the Aqua Satellite Mission
Dr. Claire Parkinson is a climatologist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center who studies the role of sea ice in the global climate system. For the past 20 years, she has been the Project Scientist for the Aqua satellite mission, which collects data on a wide variety of atmospheric, ocean, land, and ice variables. As a central part of her Ph.D. work, she developed the first global model of sea ice distribution and thickness incorporating both ice dynamics and ice thermodynamics.
