Ian Sears is a meteorologist and flight director on board the NOAA WP-3D Orion and the G-IVSP aircraft. More commonly known as a hurricane hunter, Sears has been flying with NOAA since June 2009. Sears received his degree in meteorology from Florida State University. Before becoming a hurricane hunter, he worked as a data analyst for the NOAA National Data Buoy Center. In October 2012, Sears flew multiple missions into Hurricane Sandy.
