International Weather Highlights 2013: Super Typhoon Haiyan, Super Heat in Australia and China, a Long Winter in Europe

One of the strongest typhoons to make landfall in modern times devastated the Philippines this year. Although this was the most catastrophic weather event of the year, there were plenty of other weather extremes around the globe, including record heat, crippling snowstorms, severe flooding, and drought.
