Forecast Center

In the last issue, we presented quite a challenge for Forecast Center, but in this issue, we'll be taking things a little easier, because it's summertime. Patterns are more diffuse, pressure gradients are weaker, and forecast problems become a little more predictable. Although the map is deceptively simple, there's plenty to see in this analysis.

TIM VASQUEZ is a former Air Force forecaster and author of Digital Atmosphere, a weather forecasting software program. He lives near Norman, Oklahoma, where he keeps busy as a weather consultant and software developer.
