Marshall Shepherd is the director of the University of Georgia's Atmospheric Sciences Program and the Georgia Athletic Association's Distinguished Professor of Geography and Atmospheric Sciences. Host of the Weather Channel's Sunday talk show, Weather Geeks, Shepherd is a leader in public communication of weather and climate, as well as an international leader in atmospheric sciences. A former president of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), his research encompasses both theoretical and applied work and spans topics ranging from urban climate to precipitation in tropical storms, flood-producing convective systems, and weather-resilient city planning. He is a former research meteorologist at NASA-Goddard Space Flight Center and a 2004 recipient of the U.S. President's early career award.
