Jeanine Jones

Interstate Resources Manager, California Department of Water Resources

Jeanine Jones is a Principal Engineer and the Interstate Resources Manager at the Department of Water Resources (DWR). In her role, Jones is responsible for representing the state at the Western States Water Council, where she also serves as Vice Chair, and at the Colorado River Board. Much of her work at the DWR has focused on drought management; in 2000 she served as the DWR's drought preparedness manager, and since then she has written numerous reports on the topic.

Please tell me about your role in the Department.

One of the hats I wear is that I spend a lot of time working in various aspects of drought management. Since 2000 we've had numerous drought emergencies, for which I've been part of the drought response team. In the decade prior to 2017, we only had 2 years that [the state of California was] not officially in drought.
