Weather Forecasters Help Keep Wildfire Fighters Safe

As you watched television images of wildfires racing across California's woodlands, fields, and into towns last fall you might have wondered how the men and women fighting those fires avoid being caught by the flames as the wind fanned them ever higher.

A lot of the credit for keeping wildfire fighters safe goes to NWS “incident meteorologists (iMets) who work at Incident Command Posts keeping Incident Commanders updated on the current and forecast weather that could endanger firefighters.
